Resources for Doctoral Students

Along with doctoral students' faculty advisors, the staff and facilities of the Office for Research Support (ORS) are available to assist students with planning, obtaining funding for, conducting, and disseminating research.

Resources and Services

To request any of the services listed below, please fill out a support request form, attach all relevant material, and return it to the Office Manager either via e-mail ( lrinfret@ufl.edu ) or hard copy (Rm. 2201, HPNP Complex). Please allow 10 business days for the completion of all requests unless otherwise indicated in the description of a specific service.

Additional Facilities

Two rooms in the HPNP complex are available specifically for graduate student use: the Graduate Student Lounge in room 3233, and the Matthew and Dorothy Obinger Doctoral Student Room in 2202. As with the rest of the HPNP complex, wireless access to the network is available in both rooms.

The Graduate Student Lounge, which is open for the use of doctoral and master's students during business hours, has a couch, a large table, and a number of study carrels. Lockers are available for day use, but students must provide their own locks.

The Matthew and Dorothy Obinger Doctoral Student Room has a number of study carrels and 2 desktop workstations available for use by doctoral students during business hours. Student posters and publications are displayed on the walls. The room also contains a bulletin board maintained by the Graduate Student Council for notices of interest to doctoral students. Students who plan to spend a significant amount of time on the Gainesville campus, particularly those who do not have office space elsewhere, may request their own study carrels in this room from the ORS office manager. They will then receive a room key for off hours access as well as keys to a desk and filing cabinet.

The ORS library is located in the HPNP Complex Room 2202 and books are available on loan for all students. To view the catalog of books and periodicals click here.
