Shawn Kneipp, Ph.D., A.R.N.P.
|
Dr. Kneipp’s main areas of expertise are in health care policy, welfare reform, and women's health. Her research concentrates on health disparities in disadvantaged or vulnerable populations, with a focus on women. This work is guided by an ecological model, which emphasizes environmental determinants of health (social, economic, political), and how these factors contribute to health disparities in women disadvantaged by socioeconomic status. As the CBPR’s principal investigator, she manages the project, including orienting personnel, overseeing data collection, maintaining the integrity of the intervention, and analyzing and disseminating the study’s findings. Deidre Pereira, Ph.D. |
Dr. Pereira’s expertise is in psychoneuroimmunology, psycho-oncology, HIV/AIDS, women's health, ethnic/minority health, trauma, the effects of psychosocial interventions on health and quality of life of women with cancer. In the CBPR study, she provides training and quality assurance in using the assessment tools utilized to detect select chronic mental health conditions in TANF participants, conducts the cognitive behavioral therapy training and evaluation coding portion of the intervention, and provides guidance on addressing unanticipated mental health concerns in study participants should they arise. Allyson Hall, Ph.D. |
Dr. Hall is an associate director for the Florida Center for Medicaid and the Uninsured and is an associate research professor in the Department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy at the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. Dr. Hall's main research interests relate to access to care for vulnerable populations, and she currently serves as one of the investigators on a project to evaluate Medicaid reforms in Florida. In the CPBR study, Dr. Hall provides guidance on Medicaid policy and utilization in Florida and monitors for changes in Medicaid policy that could affect the study. More... |

Joan D. Flocks, J.D. |
Flocks is the director of the social policy division of the Center for Governmental Responsibility at the UF Levin College of Law. Her areas of teaching and scholarship include environmental justice, poverty law, community-based participatory research, and immigrant groups in the Southeast. She provides expertise related to conducting CBPR, including the development and involvement of the Community Advisory Group in the research project. More… |

Barbara Lutz, Ph.D., R.N. |
Dr. Lutz’s research interests are in the areas of access to health care and community-based support services for vulnerable populations, in particular working-age adults with chronic, physically disabling conditions and persons recovering from stroke. She has clinical expertise in public health and community health nursing. In the CBPR, she directs the focus groups and first-year qualitative data analysis with all members of the Research Work Group, and in the fourth year of the project will conduct a process evaluation for CBPR. Linda Beeber, Ph.D., R.N., C.S. |
Dr. Beeber has taught and/or practiced psychiatric nursing for over 35 years. Her research focuses include depression in a variety of patient populations. In the CBPR, she provides guidance on the mental health components of the project and on conducting a research clinical trial in the current population of women, including assisting with recruitment and/or retention issues should they arise, treatment contamination, etc. More… |

Cynthia Allen |
Cynthia Allen manages the day-to-day aspects of the study, including tracking of participant follow-up over the nine-month period, organizing Community Advisory Group and research team meetings, and assisting with preparing reports for the National Institutes of Health and the UF Institutional Review Board. |

Deirdra Means |
Deirdra Means is the CBPR’s research assistant. She is in charge of recruiting participants for the study, maintaining a relationship with them, and insuring their continued participation. She also conducted focus group discussions in the first phase of the study and will administer the Medicaid training to women in the intervention group. |

Michelle Galin R.N.
|
Michelle Galin is the CBPR’s public health/intervention nurse, who conducts secondary screenings among participants in the intervention group and delivers the case management components of the intervention. Galin is a graduate of the UF College of Nursing who is currently working on a Master of Public Health degree at the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. Her focus is health policy and her main areas of interest are women's health and community health nursing. She has worked with Dr. Kneipp in prior studies examining the health status of women transitioning from welfare to employment. |
