Nurse researchers at the University of Florida College Of Nursing, in partnership
with women in the Welfare Transition Program (WTP), are conducting a study.
The
purpose of the study is to help meet the healthcare needs of women as they
go through the WTP. If you are eligible for the study and want to enroll,
you will need to meet with the research team a total of four times: one
“baseline” time, and then 3 more times, each 3 months apart.
Some women who enroll in the study will also be eligible to receive services
from a public health nurse. These services include health screening, helping
women get healthcare appointments, and learning about staying healthy.
Participants in the study will receive a $50.00 gift certificate at each meeting with the research team. (This includes the initial meeting, and each of the 3 follow-up meetings). Participants also receive a $5.00 gift certificate each month for remaining in the study.
You may be able to participate in the research study if you:
1. Are between the ages of 18-60 and are enrolled in WTP
2. Are not yet employed
3. Are not currently receiving Social Security Disability Income
4. Are not currently pregnant
5. Have at least one chronic health condition. This means any health problem that lasts for a long time (for example, high blood pressure, depression, chronic back pain, and many others that would also qualify). If you think you may have a chronic health condition but are not sure, we can help you with a screening process that will tell us if you are eligible for the study or not.
If you are interested in participating in the study, please call the Study Coordinator at (352) 273-6610 (Dr. Kneipp’s research office).
If no one is in the office, please leave a message and we will return your
call as soon as possible.
